The new student accommodation is located on the site of a former brewery on the south side of Fountainbridge and forms an important part of the wider regeneration of the area. Lakesmere was appointed by main contractor Pochin’s Construction to complete an extensive cladding package for Edinburgh’s Napier University’s new Bainfield student residence scheme.
The plank cladding package was specified in three complimentary shades of grey and to successfully create the desired pattern, meticulous attention to detail at both the setting out and installation stages was vital.

To complete work on this large scale site, Lakesmere was required to complete a challenging installation process using scissor lifts and mast climbers. Lakesmere’s extemporary health and safety record was also an important factor in the successful management of a large workforce simultaneously working across a number of elevations. As both Lakesmere and other trades were working on various elevations at the same time, access on site was limited and so Lakesmere was required to utilise its exceptional logistic management skills to successfully take delivery of and handle the large quantities of materials that were required.
